Silicon Valley Chinese and Multicultural Communities Celebrate the Lunar New Year
Our Hearts, Our Home – Spring Shared Across Five Continents
The 17th Silicon Valley Spring Festival Gala & the 3rd Multicultural Arts Festival “Beautiful Home”
Four thematic chapters explore cultural roots, perseverance, the tides of our times, and our shared spiritual home.
San José, California — With strong support from the City of San José and Santa Clara County, Chinese Performing Arts of America (CPAA) proudly presents its annual Lunar New Year celebration: “Our Hearts, Our Home.”
The gala takes place Sunday, February 22, 2026, at 7:00 PM at the San Jose Center for the Performing Arts (255 S. Almaden Blvd., San Jose, CA 95113).
For more than 34 years, CPAA has served as a cornerstone of Chinese arts education and cultural exchange in Silicon Valley. Guided by the belief that art can break boundaries and build understanding, this year’s Spring Festival Gala embodies CPAA’s mission—bringing communities together through a powerful, shared artistic experience.
A Multicultural Celebration of Home and Belonging
Under the call “Our Hearts as Home, Spring Shared Across Five Continents,” the 2026 gala gathers artists and supporters from across technology, culture, and the arts to reflect Silicon Valley’s global spirit. The program unfolds in four thoughtfully curated chapters, blending time-honored Chinese traditions with contemporary, multicultural expressions.
CPAA anchors the evening with several signature performances that give emotional depth to the theme “Beautiful Home.” These works honor cultural roots, the perseverance of immigrant journeys, and the collective hope of building a harmonious spiritual home together.
The evening opens with “Spring Revelry (The Sound of Spring),” a vibrant and hopeful dance performed by young dancers from Han Feng Dance Academy—setting a joyful tone for the night ahead.
As Gala Executive Director and Artistic Director Han Feng reflects:
“Between the winds of the Pacific and the clouds of our homeland lies a valley illuminated by code and dreams. We come from all over the world—ancient rivers flow in our blood, while beneath our feet surges the new land of Silicon Valley, ignited by innovation.”
These words capture the shared identity of Silicon Valley’s Chinese and international communities—rooted in ancestral cultures while embracing a new home defined by creativity and innovation.
The Four Chapters of the Gala
Chapter One: Roots & Origin
A tribute to cultural origins and collective memory, this chapter traces the depth of heritage through music and movement.
USA Angel Choir and the Harmonia Women’s Choir present “Medley of Ancient Poems” and “Deer Bleating”, bringing millennia of Chinese literature to life through choral harmony.
CPAA dance works “The Maidens’ Prayer” and “Puppet Story” reimagine tradition through expressive choreography.
Soprano Li Xiao and pianist Wu Hao bridge East and West with “O Mio Babbino Caro” and “Rolling Beaded Curtain.”
Chapter Two: Cultivation & Toil
Stories of perseverance, creation, and resilience take center stage.
Tsinghua North America Dance Team performs “Glimpse of Grace,” reflecting aspiration through fluid motion.
Indian dance “Nritt” and Mexican folk dance “El Son Jalisciense” celebrate Silicon Valley’s cultural diversity.
“Memory of the Hometown” and bamboo flute master Yu Xiaoqing’s solos (“A Lifetime of Love” and “Unchained”) portray the emotional landscape of striving abroad—longing, devotion, and determination.
Chapter Three: Tide & Surge
This chapter pulses with the spirit of the times and cultural convergence.
Renowned singer Yan Ting (Hunan Song and Dance Theatre) performs “Thousands of Songs” and the gala’s theme song “Our Hearts, Our Home.”
“Light and Shadow of the Swords” showcases strength and elegance through dynamic choreography.
Chinese dance artist Sun Wenlong joins Silicon Valley youth soloist Leah Liang in “Drifting Up to the Cloud,” symbolizing unity and rising collective strength.
Chapter Four: Home & Hearts
The finale elevates the theme of belonging and community.
For the first time, CPAA welcomes Ancient Music Orchestra of XAIU & XAIU Dance Troupe to present the world-renowned intangible cultural heritage to Bay Area audiences.
Their works— The Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO: Xi’an Drum Music
1)《上元节之恋》“Love at the Lantern Festival”
2)《秦俑之魂》“The Soul of Terracotta Warriors”
3)《大唐夷音》“Tang Dynasty Exotic Harmonies”—form an epic musical journey from ancient romance to cosmopolitan exchange.
The dance “Tide of the Hearts” embodies emotional convergence, followed by the closing piece “Spirit of the Orchid.” Like orchids growing quietly yet powerfully, immigrant communities take root and define home through inner strength and cultural fragrance.
The evening concludes with a resonant message shared by performers and audience alike:
“No matter where we are—where the heart belongs, there lies home.”
